Site facilitiesWashing / toilet facilitiesThe site has a toilet block with hot and cold water and (under warden supervision) chemical toilet emptying point adjacent. The block has a shower for male and female. Use of the showers is free. These facilities are for you so please use with consideration for others. Do not use them for the washing-up of kitchen utensils. GasCamping Gaz and Calor gas refills can be bought from a camping centre adjacent to the site. ShoppingThere is a general store a short car journey from the site. All other convenience stores, butchers and greengrocers are all within a ten minute drive from the site. Canterbury has ASDA, Safeway & Sainsbury supermarkets and there are others in Herne Bay and Whitstable. TelephoneThere is an incoming / emergency phone located in the main site building. ChapelCurrently due to a woodland management project, Ross Wood does not have a purpose built chapel. However, the woods lend themselves well for finding a quite area for reflection. ReligionThere are many local churches offering Church of England, Roman Catholic and Methodist services. A large number of faiths are supported in and around Canterbury. Camp firesThe site has a campfire circle where campfires are held during the main camping season. It is also available for use by individual groups.  
First aidAll groups should have their own first aid kit and qualified first aiders to deal with all injuries. Doctors An emergency doctor surgery is based at the Chestfield Medical Centre, Reeves Way, Chestfield. Surgery hours: 08:00-18:30 Monday to Friday Tel: 01227 794555 Accident & Emergency The Kent & Canterbury Hospital has a minor A&E Dept and is in central Canterbury on the Old Dover Road. Tel: 01227 466877 Ambulance services will probably go to A&E at Margate or Ashford WaterStandpipes are located at various points around the site. PitsDue to the nature of the ground on site NO pits of any type may be dug. Waste disposal facilities are provided in the car park area. There is an alter fire area on each of the main sites.  
FirewoodThere is ample wood for burning lying around the wood. Under NO circumstances is live wood to be cut or damaged. Chain saws are NOT permitted on the site. VehiclesNO vehicles are to be driven onto the sites other than with the Centre Manager’s permission. This ensures that the site is a safe, vehicle free environment. Dogs pets are allowed on site.BUT MUST be keep under control Noise / nuisanceAs the consideration for other users is paramount, music players, radios and the like must not be audible off your own site. You will also be expected to be responsible for keeping your group under control and preventing them from causing a nuisance to adjoining campers. SecurityIn the interest of security we would recommend that you do not leave any valuables in tents or buildings. Buildings should be locked if you are leaving them for any period of time. Ross Wood will not be held responsible for the loss of valuables. All combustible rubbish, where practicable should be burned. All other rubbish should be brought to camp centre and placed in the bins provided.
